On The Mend is a short-form video podcast made inside real GP practices. It does two things: it explains common health topics in plain language, and it shows you how general practice actually works behind the scenes. The tagline says it best: your GP practice, from every angle.
On The Mend is an independent podcast made by a small team who work in general practice in Melbourne. Episodes are recorded inside real, working clinics with guests from across the health community, whichever practice or service they belong to.
Full episodes are on YouTube and Spotify. Short clips and highlights are on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. You may also spot episodes playing in the waiting room at participating clinics. This website does not host videos itself; everything plays through YouTube or Spotify.
Full episodes usually run 10 to 15 minutes, short enough to watch in a waiting room. Clips run one to two minutes if you only have a moment.
No. On The Mend shares general health information only. It is not personalised medical advice and it does not replace a consultation. Your situation is unique to you, so always speak with your own GP about your health. If you or someone you know is struggling, speak with your GP, or call Lifeline on 13 11 14 for support now.
Not just doctors. Guests include GPs, nurses, receptionists, practice managers, allied health providers and community health services. So far the podcast has featured Dr Ross Wines on skin checks, Dr Geoffrey Kimanje on men's health, and Rebecca Bourke from Hearing Australia on hearing checks.
Two streams. First, health topics patients ask about: skin checks, men's health, women's health, hearing, travel medicine, screening, prevention and more. Second, the behind-the-scenes side of general practice: why doctors run late, how fees and Medicare work, and what it is like to work in a clinic. Use the episode search to find a topic.
New episodes are released regularly, with clips and carousels posted through the week between episodes. The best way to catch a new release is to subscribe on YouTube or follow the show on Spotify.
Please do. The best episodes come from real questions patients ask. Send us your question or topic and it may become a future episode.
If you work in or around general practice, yes. GPs, nurses, receptionists, practice managers, allied health providers and community health services are all welcome. Get in touch and tell us what you would like to talk about. Guests receive a welcome pack and consent form before recording, and nothing is published without your sign-off.
Yes. The podcast records in Melbourne's south east and is expanding to feature guests and stories from practices right across Melbourne and Victoria. The show is not tied to any one clinic, so if your team has people worth hearing from, reach out.
We are open to conversations with local health brands, pharmacies and allied health providers. All partnerships must fit the podcast's factual, non-promotional style and comply with Australian health advertising rules, so content always stays educational. Contact us to start a conversation.
Because patients wonder about them, and honest answers build trust. Most health content stops at clinical advice. We think understanding how the system works, from appointment lengths to Medicare, helps you get more out of your own GP visits.
No. All video and audio lives on YouTube and Spotify. This site is your guide to what exists and where to find it. When you press play, you are watching or listening on those platforms.
